Ebook About What do I want in a mate? Absolutely Nothing.Silas Jones has no interest in getting a mate, fated or otherwise. At twenty-two, he’s alone in the world… or would be without the quirky pack of desert homesteaders who’ve become his family. Who needs more than that? Not Silas. Everyone else can partner up and risk loving the wrong person, he’s not judging. To each their own, but it’s not what he wants for himself. Ever. Nope, Silas is quite happy being a lone coyote. Maybe one day it’ll stop feeling lonely in the wee hours. Or he could get a dog.Daniel Atkins never planned to add stalking his fated mate to his to-do list. But what’s a guy to do when his fated mate takes one sniff in his direction and turns the other way? He’s dying to get all the info on Silas, see what makes him tick and figure out why his mate is so skittish. But first, he needs to get his inner beaver to calm down and stop demanding they keep eyes on their omega. If Silas is in danger, Daniel needs to be on guard. Hmm… is it really stalking if he’s keeping a protective watch? Return to the hills above Cottonwood, Arizona where every shifter has a bit of special magic and the pack of homesteaders, preppers, and loners who are a lot nosier about each other’s lives than they’d care to admit. Because no matter their differences—pack means family. This 31k novella is the second in this short-read series. This world contains mpreg, but won’t have a birth in every book due to the short timelines. Be prepared for side-splitting laughs, a few tears, shifter-on-shifter violence, and a group of people who know that family always comes first. Also, all the feels you’d expect from a Susi Hawke original. See expanded blurb inside book for possible triggers.Book Settle for Nothing (Desert Homesteaders Book 2) Review :
**********Contains Spoilers**********I really enjoyed this book. I really liked Silas and Daniel together. I loved that Daniel helped Silas by building a chicken coop, doing the cooking at the dinner when Shane was sick and Silas was by himself and not fairing too well, keeping watch over his place as his beaver felt like he needed to be close to his mate to protect him even after Silas told him that he doesn’t want a mate he stuck around as he’s a genuinely nice guy. Silas had a sh*tty childhood with an ab*sive alcoholic for a father who k*lled his wife as he found out that she was planning on leaving him for her true mate, but when Silas tried to help her another man walked into the house and it was obvious that he’d been there before and saw that she was getting be*ten by her husband and just left even while she was yelling out to him for hep. I don’t think he was actually her true mate as he couldn’t of just walked away after what he saw her going through so hence why Silas was apprehensive about mating after witnessing his mothers supposed true mate leave her to d*e. All I can say is no one should underestimate Daniel’s Beaver as he’s absolutely lethal and they better watch out if they hurt Silas or anyone he cares about. Man what his Beaver did to Silas was horrifically awesome. I loved getting getting more of the Niles, Kyle and Larry as well as Dottie and Sandy as they’re such family goals and I loved how they took both Daniel and Silas under their wings and I can’t wait to read Shane’s story as he really needs his true mate state as he’s had such bad luck with guys. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone. Ever since the first Desert Homesteaders book came out last year, we have all been waiting for the second. Susi got sick, and her writing got behind, and she let us know that this book was last on the list. Our wait is over! This book is fun, mildly suspenseful, and has all the feels you expect from Susi.I stayed up until 2am to finish reading this, and it was worth every minute of lost sleep.Thank you, Susi! I hope you are well on the road to renewed good health. I look forward to the next installment of Desert Homesteaders, and everything else you have to share with us from your magnificent brain.
